Realistic Forest with Cycles

Description

This scene has originally been made for a rendering with the software Mitsuba. However, I wanted to compare the results with Blender and redesigned it for Cycles. Let me know if you like it!

Looks very realistic, if a little blurred, though this would be correct for a background shot. How long did it take to render?

Hi! Thank you for your comment! Well with 500 samples it took me 1 day for 1980x720 pixels. However, I think that 100 samples and a noise filter can offer the same result.

The more I look at it, the more amazed I am. It really is good :-)

When I open up the blend file the trees are all pink, why is that?

B
Blenderudit about 12 years ago

Probably because it cannot access to the textures. Did you uncompressed the zip?

Ain't it looks too small for that geometry amounts AND textures? 64Mb

The blur is done in the composite layer. Opens OK in 2.82. Renders in about 20 mins on an IMac Pro. Going to try a little animation on this one.
