Proog Cycles

Description

This a rework version of Proog with materials adapted to Cycles.

It uses the original model made by the Orange Team under CC conditions. I've only create material setup for the character.

This work is a rework of a CC-BY model, original model and textures are done the Orange Team.

Not reign on your parade, but the very first rule on the upload page reads: "UPLOAD YOUR OWN WORK ONLY." and that includes CC Meshes and textures simply redoing a node setup and then posting it can get you in allot of trouble on this site.

And not to rain on yours, but he can; that's actually the *whole point* of CC licensing. Under the CC-BY license of the Orange Open Movie Project (aka *Elephant's Dream*) he can redistribute modified or *unmodified* versions of the assets - such as this model - so long as he credits the original author - which he has. Check Blend Swap's own page on licensing: [here](http://www.blendswap.com/page/licenses) And the Project Orange page: [here](http://orange.blender.org/blog/creative-commons-license-2/) What can't be redistributed are files which aren't explicitly licensed for redistribution. This includes files from games, commercial works (unless otherwise licensed), and generally anything which lacks an explicit license. Basically, if it doesn't say anything, assume you can't redistribute it, even modified (although this gets fuzzy; derivative works and all that).

A recent article from the site owner says that while technically allowed, it is generally frowned upon to upload CC meshes and textures and not in keeping with the spirit of the site. And such models may be removed at their discretion.

Link or it didn't happen. Furthermore the Open Movie Projects encourage redistribution so I doubt there is an issue.

And, to be accurate -- HIS work here is the redo of the materials. That is his work, based on work originally published with a CC license. Its the same as when someone downloads a basemesh and makes a full character out of it. Or when someone downloads a clay model and textures and rigs it. These are welcome and encouraged, so long as credit is given where it is required.

@etoven we have also asked you guys not to call people in the comments, but to submit an anonymous report; now you know why.

Hello, I didn't expected such bad comments on this one ! As I said in the description, I didn't take the credit for the modelisation or texturing but only for material setup. I would be happy to mention that it is a CC rework but there is no such option on BlendSwap... Anyway, I've updated the description I hope it is clearer now, I have no intention at all to take credit for BF studio at all !

The model is clean just add better credits as the BF asks people to do.

Nice (re-)work, @Riton :-) Could you possibly add a link to where I can see the Orange Team original and find out more about him, please? Our Linux User Group watched Elephant's Dream when it first came out and it prompted a discussion of licence types. Since then I've watched all their movies. I like that I can use their models as starting points. I've downloaded a lot of [Durian](http://www.blendswap.com/category/durian) models from BlendSwap.

Hello Riton! I've used your model in a personal project, you can see it here (barely, because the camera moves very fast): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwAvXuqCgYI Of course you are in the final credits. Thanks for sharing it! Nicolas.
