Reminds me of my girl guide compass! But there was no picture under the needle - it was quite plain.) I also remember my orienteering days, when I had a special orienteering compass which had a perspex surround, and we used to carry our map in a clear plastic bag (English weather LOL). There was no GPS in those days ... but I'm certain it was more fun.
