The stem of the fern is too big at the beginning and to small at the top. And realistic fern has not a brown stem ;) It looks a litle bit like a tree with leaves from a fern. I would try to make one fern-plant with just the leaves (dont use the blender particle system or tree generator) Put some leafes in a random row together an thats it :)
