Ant - rigged, animated

Description

Included:

- cycles shader

- hair

- Rigged -Animated along a curve, with NLA strips used

- You can drive the ants speed with the parent of the armature, the walkcycle will adapt to speed of this object, and thanks to the curve deform applied after armature modifier, the ant can stick to any surface.

-2 NLA strips - one is the walkcycle, second is tentacle and head movement

- no textures, just vertex colors, very lightweight.

This ant was used in production of an animated movie, it is simple, but functioning well. Thanks to DOF + motion blur can look realistic when not really big in the shot.

Ok, I have to comment - I wanted to publish this under CC-0 license, but did it accidentally under CC-BY, I thought that is the correct one. Now, there is no way to change the license. I understand that users cant change licensing of their files, but I think changing to a more permissive license could/should be possible.

thanks a lot :) I know how I prefer myself CC-0 downloads. Before all, sometimes, it can be sometimes hard to give credit, because there is not a platform for it(e.g. in short spots without titles). So I want to share my models under this license.

Hey, thank you verry much for making it CC-0. That's really cool. Just a hint: inside the download zip the license file says still it's "Creative Commons Attribution 3.0"...

This looks so cool. I like how you set up the rig too. Would take me a while to get good at it because I'm not used to that. The idea of having the remote control area you called mravinator where you operate the thing in 3rd person, is blowing my mind.

thanks, the rig is also why I decided to share - sending any character on a curve in blender is not easy at all and I spent some time figuring out how this works ....

The ant doesn't look like the picture here. It's blocky instead of smooth, like its head and body is square like not rounded...I tried to increase the sub surf but it didn't do anything. How can i make the ant's body, head, legs and all be rounded instead of square?

Subsurf modifier is disabled in viewport, just click on view icon to display it

Sadly, I realized a feature in this rig became somehow unsupported... and that is driving a strip time.

no one cares to mention that ants have only three body segments, not four?
