compass

Description

Another, blend mainly focused on modelling.

*I orientated myself on a "Fabercastell" compass, this is why it's marked as Fan-art.

I hope you enjoy, otherwise leave a comment on what you would change.
Thx ;)

I think you meant 'compass' rather than 'circle' ... you use the first to draw the second! Anyhow, it was obvious what the blend was from the graphic, no problem. Looks good but there is very little organization ... and it's kind of broken. None of the materials are named, and only one mesh. Some of the objects are organized but they're scattered across three layers. This is fine for throw-away stuff but anytime you might want to re-use models or materials it's a really good practice to name them, organize them, and then group them. That way you can import either a named material or a named group. Without fear of having to deal with 5 versions of Material.001 or a like problem. From experience i can tell you this is a courtesy not just for other people but also for yourself!

I like what you've done but I'd already upvoted your submission. No problems, now you've two upvotes from me! I would also name the meshes, but many wouldn't. I like the layer manager, usually I'd label the various layers. Then once I'm happy with a given layer, I can switch it off for any test renders. This is a workflow I've developed because my GPU doesn't have a lot of memory. Of course, this is only *my* approach. I'd also put the camera and lighting on a layer of their own, that way there's less clutter. As far as grouping goes, I'd have set up three groups: Compass - Red, Compass - Blue, and Compasses. Usually that's my last step when modelling assets. I'll group them and then set the Outliner to Group. Then when I open the file again, I can quickly see what's there. Of course, this is only my workflow! I'm sure there are many other approaches. But I think any time there is little or *no* organization it always looks a little amateurish.
