A high-poly model of the Galactica from the 2003 TV series.
I know it's a big model... but to be fair, it could have been a lot bigger.
The model they used on the show was supposedly about 20 million polygons. My version is just under 1 million (or about 5% of the original). It's still huge, obviously, but I didn't want to go any smaller. Low poly models of this ship are already out there, and building another one didn't interest me. If I was going to do this, I wanted to go all the way :)
I'm pretty happy with the modeling here, but I'd describe the texturing as "adequate". It looks okay, but there's plenty of room for improvement. If any of you texturing gurus want to tackle that (massive) project, I'd love to see it!

Please note that all texture files are packed and must be unpacked before use.
As with all my "Fan Art" models, I've issued a disclaimer below. Personally, I don't care what you do with this model, but the people who own the rights probably feel differently. Be careful with that stuff :)

Hi Chris! Thanks for all your great models and generosity. I read elsewhere that you had a Viper MkII on here as well. Has that been removed? Would go nicely with this model. Also, I know (and have watched) your contribution to the rigging course on CG Cookie. Having seen your models here, and many more on your Facebook page, I'm very curious about your modelling techniques and how you approach your hard surface models with lots of intricate detail. I get there are many ways to skin a cat, but you seem to have found a way to keep pushing excellent models out without losing your mind. I'd be equally interesting in paid courses if you have any of those. Thanks! EDIT: By studying the Millennium Falcon model I found the info I needed.
