Office Drone

Description

A simple play on words that evolved into a fully realized model. These little white-collar workers are simply rigged, expertly modeled, and ready for any paperwork you might throw at them.

I think that's just a weird "feature" of the Blender version I made it in. Try creating new file and then appending every object into the new file.

Blender Internal.

These are awesome! I look forward to make them scurry around my desk. :D

Thanks! They're the start of my "cute critters" style, I think; and in some ways they inspired the little robot avatars you see on your profile. I guess the simple Office Drones are way more influential than I thought they'd be!

Hello I want to do animation using personadey this blend file and upload to Youtube. I can just indicate in the description of the file that the characters did Nick Royer, and a link to this page?

Hi, I really like your model and am wondering if I can use them for the logo of my company? I am doing Database Creation and Graphic Design and these guys would be wonderful. Please let me know. :) Thanks and again great job

Go for it. I'd like to see what you've done with it, though. (Not a requirement; it's just interesting to me to see what people do with my swaps.)

Hi again, Just finished my little commercial/short video. It's on YouTube. I put "Nick Royer" in the description to credit you. I think that was what you wanted. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfuMpG4j0hY

I want to create a YouTube series about these robots in an office but I need your permission. I will try my best to pay you back for the use of the model.

He's really awesome, but (at least in 2.69) his wheel isn't actually attached to the bone. You can move the wheel bone around without the wheel. I'm trying to figure out how to re-attach them, but I'm pretty new to blender... Can anyone give me any tips on how to do it? The docs say to select the mesh in question, then the bone. But I can't select just the mesh. It selects the entire skin.

I messed around with this a lot more tonight. I tried different versions of blender. I finally found a work around. I can move his entire body when in object mode, so long as I set a keyframe on his position. Seems a little wrong that I can't move his ball/wheel at all when in pose mode. I don't know enough about rigging to fix it, but at least I have a work around. He will be fun to play around with.

Discovered the same problem! Took me forever to figure out how to animate the bones and object. Funny that when I figured out the process, I would forget how I did it and have to start the tedious process all over again! I'm new to Blender and learn more and more every time I experiment. I think the fix would be to join the ball to the object and then attach the skin to the bones which would allow to animate without keying both bones and skin. If someone could walk me through this, sure would be helpful!

I'm a huge Seattle Seahawks Fan and used your character for this short 1080*1080 video. I'm new to Blender and struggled through the process to re-texture in cycles. I call the little guy, Hawk Bot. I need to go back and give you the credit which is deserved! Here is the video on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EN3j8AmOgQc

Hello Nick, could you upload the office drones to hitrecord? I would like to use them for an animation and if it makes money I would like you to get it too. Let me know when (if) you decide to do it. thanks in advance!!
