Nomad-Desert Mech

Description

Alright, so this guy was sitting around unfinished, and I saw the contest, and so here he is. Fully rigged, fully textured (morguefile.com, checked the licencing), and he's even got a walk and run cycle sitting in the action editor.

NOTE: I am submitting this blend for the contest, if you'll let me. I know it's not really a traditional mech, but I think he should be able to qualify. If not, it's cool.

OTHER NOTE: This is not finished. I just wanted to post this to see if I can use it in the contest. I'd like to post an update with a better rig, bone shapes, and more detailed textures.

Quite a unique look! May I ask what your inspirations were? Are you going to make a different, more mechanical-style mechs for the contest or would you rather upgrade this one?

@Mennoknight, thoughts on your model. First great job. However here is what HJM said about it "it looks like it's not quite mech-like enough. It's kind of borderline... especially those skinny little chicken legs. If it were just a tad less stylized, it'd be fine. Since he says it's just a WIP, I'd say let it through but judge it when it's finished." Hope that helps to clarify your concerns.

This is a very cool model. The tubes and hoses are awesome. I think you forgot to pack the textures, but it's still pretty wicked.

Sorry about that, I updated the textures (Or tried, tell me if they aren't) And I'll immediately get on making it more "mech like." Thanks for the flexibility

Awesome. One thing, it mentions the lack of a cockpit, which is very true. I was thinking this guy was remotely controlled ( I mean, the main downfall of the bad guy in avatar is that they could kill him because he was in his mech). If it being a mech requires a guy to be able to climb in and control him, I could do that too, but I rather like the design I have. Thanks for the advice, I'll see what I can do on the rest.

A drone is cool. I forgot about that. :) Maybe some cameras or sensors?

@AlekB I'd love for you to use this! Feel free to use either this, or the updated("Finished") model here http://www.blendswap.com/3D-models/characters/nomad/comment-page-1/#comment-13294 And yeah, if the short film you're talking about goes through you can put my name in the credits (Mennoknight or you can find my real name in my profile)
