Rigged Man With Walk Cycle

Description

This model is a modification of the Low Poly Character model by Blork, uploaded with permission. I have given it a rig based on the recent Blenderguru tutorial, textured it with projection painting and added to the mesh a bit. I've used a simple lighting rig to improve the render times. The model is also animated with a walk cycle, and now I will be working on a run cycle. This is my first animated character.

jeans i find are quite hard to get right, i understand the whole concept of the character is low poly, so you went the right road, but if you plan on using him in an animation or developing him further, id either lose the projection painted approach and with a bit of additional modelling e.g zip flap, back pockets and belt rings and then find the best texture of denim and go that route. just my 2 cents. but good work keep it up. im not critisizing your work, as i cant afford to, just a suggestion

well i agree with you, but when you say that you are not critisizing that's not all true, in fact yes you are critisizing but in the good way, you're giving him ideas to further improve his projects, that's critisizing there are several types of critisim :)

Its called Constructive Criticism

I'm not sure I agree. I don't think I'd ever need enough resolution in the animation to require modelled pockets etc., and UV texturing the jeans would give you no variation or detail in the texture and generally would be a poor alternative to the projection method, especially for a difficult shape like the bottom half of a body.

I didn't say the jeans were bad, if I were to use him in an anim, I'd rework the face before the jeans. His face looks like a store maniquin sort of.

This upload was really more about the rigging and the walk cycle.

sorry mate i take it back, i made a stupid error and judged the jeans on the screenshot and after taking the time to look at them on the actual programme, i feel a douche. i got a rig from a rigging website which had jeans projection painted and they looked terrible, and turned me off the approach cause they looked so wrong, the screen shot doesn't do the work justice, the jeans actually look cool, and animate well. so i eat my words, and say a sorry when its due.sorry mate

No problem at all - projection painting is a fantastic technique if you get it right and I think can give results that you wouldn't get from any other texturing method.

He do you mind if I use this in a game? I don't think I'll do anything with it for a while, but I thought I'd ask in case I do. (I couldn't find the original Author, so that's why I'm asking you)
