This is good but I notice one thing: If you move the rig to a different area like higher above you, you can press p and you don't ever see the rig fall but when you start off looking at it then press p then it will.

actually i think its because both are in different layers, either you have to enable both layers or move the rig to the model layer, hope this helped

I did. I played it in 2.6 and just to be even more sure I had all of the layers enabled. Like I see that layer 1 has the wireframe and layer 2 has the mesh and armature. I panned out toward the bottom to where I'm not seeing any part of the ragdoll, press p and didn't see it fall. Now I tried out just a basic block-ish ragdoll by doing the same thing as I did for the skinned ragdoll. Raising it higher to where the camera/view doesn't see it and wouldn't you know it, it works for the block styled ragdoll but not the skinned one. But this is still a good blend! Just need a little more improvement to where it can fall while it isn't in view. I'm not sure if that's just the current state of where BGE is or how it's setup.

yeah, i can see the problem too, i think its some kind of bge bug, i tried recording the physics with the ragdoll out of view and i didnt see it in game but when i see time line, all animation is there :/
