Dalek v1.0

Description

A Dalek from Doctor Who, modeled from reference images from the web. Fully rigged and material-ed. Scaling the 'plunger' control will change the extension of the arm. The .blend contains two worlds: one ‘sky’ world, which creates a less realistic result, and one ‘world’ world, which is more realistic and uses a CC HDRi texture. The preview render uses this HDRi world. Rendered in Cycles. 110181 verts, 71282 faces.

Hey, still loving the file, but do you know of a way to change it to a blender render (and keep all the textures, or can you make a blender render version???

I'll convert it to blender internal and upload it tomorrow :) glad you like it!

Tried to render, and it turned out pinkish. I'm a noob with cycles and don't know how to fix this. Otherwise, it is hard to find rigging so cooprative or texturing so elegant.

Spectacular! Love the rigging controls! Going to have some fun with this for sure. :) Mr. Superhomosapien - blender cycles doesn't like to use textures that have been packed into the blend file. That's why you are getting pink. Go to file, external data, and then select unpack into files. This will let you choose a location to save the textures. Relink the texture to the unpacked files, and it will get rid of the pink.

Why is fanart not marked as non-commercial? Yes, this should be obvious but there are plenty of people who'll try it on (as the recent articles on ripped models attests to).

This is a great model to look at initially. But I found some flipped normals and weird geometry that might cause problems. Great renders though.

__REALLY__ great rig. I made an animation here: https://youtu.be/A5HYMPJHf_8 However, it takes VERY long to render animations with it. Rendering the entire video took about an hour and a half. I recommend you make and animation the night before and then let it render all night and while you're at work/school.
