I'm using linux Ubuntu, my laptop has Nvidia Optimus technology-officially not supported by Nvidia, but everything works well with bumblebee- linux community project.
If blender works on your computer, cycles should work too.

Nice, but cycles wont cooperate on my laptop for some reason, so i have to avoid all projects that use cycles.
