Chocolate River Video Projection

Description

Here're all the files that i used to create the chocolate river that i projected -- with the help of a friend -- down the center isle of the audience for a local production of Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory.

I tried to come up with a creative way to create the river, and Blender immediately came to mind. I'm sure no other production of Willy Wonka has ever had a river like this.

The picture shown is the final projection during the show, thanks to our own co-ops projector.

What a great project! How long did it take to render the final animation, and what is the spec of the machine you used?

@FayZee, it took me only about an hour and a half - two hours. I have a 3570k cpu, 2 gtx 550tis, and 16gb of ram. So i was rendering on three different devices. Thanks!

Do you have a farm? I've a feeling I need to upgrade my graphics card very soon. Which ones have you found best for Blender?

Nope. I actually rendered the grass and candy seperate and had them as one image, then i composited that image over the animation.

I find the 550tis are fantastic cards, but the 650s are obviously better. Unfortunately, you can't run two 650s t the same time.

I'll look into that range. Rather than running two graphics cards I would be looking for another dual port card that works well on Linux. Hmm, funny, Blend Swap won't let me post a comment as a reply today. It used to be possible. I've tried from both Firefox and Chrome.
