Description
I found myself making a lot of product shots lately, and thought that maybe it would be easier to have a set of backdrops that are easily customizable and that i could use really quickly instead of having to model them everytime. So that's what I did!
Here I created __five (5)__ different studio backdrops that you can use for products shots, showing off your model, or anything where you need a nice infinite background.
All of them have customizable parameters that use __Shapekeys__ to control them. Those parameters include: __Roundness, Height, Width, etc.__
Hopefully you guys find this really useful, I know I have, and if there is any problems with it please please let me know, I would like to make this better if I could.
There was no scripting involved because I have no idea how to script haha, but it would be awesome if somehow this were an add-on where you could choose from a menu which ones you want to import.
But anyways, enjoy and I hope it helps someone and happy blending!
__Note: In the preview images, I show only four backdrops, there are indeed five but I could only upload five pictures altogether. So that meant one main picture and four individual pictures. The one that is missing is just the basic "Studio L" backdrop. But you can see it in the main picture used as the example.__

SO, SO very useful, thanks.
You're very welcome, glad it helps!
This is very helpful. Would be a great addon with a selection menu. Wish I knew Python. Thank you very much.
Yes, I really would want some kind of menu, but I guess for now you'd just have to append it. I'm happy you find it useful!
That is a great idea.
Nice thing to have, very useful. It gives me one of those 'why did no one think of it before?' moments. lol
Haha yeah, I had to look it up to see if anyone else had done it but I guess not.
You should stick this on blendersartists or something; I'm sure there's a bored scripter or two willing to make this the add-on of the century. o: Good work!
Hey that's a good idea! What section do you think I should post it in, I don't want people getting mad for putting it in the wrong place haha
Woah, Staff Picks! Thanks guys, that's pretty awesome!! I'm really am happy people are finiding it useful!
Congratulations on the staff pick, David! I have a question, and I feel a little silly asking it, but I'm really curious; what are the differences between these backdrops? By which I mean, are there certain types of shots where one backdrop will be more effective than another (such as a drink/beverage shot, versus a car shot, versus a character). I've only ever used a simple subsurfed wall/floor background, so I'm sure reflections are much different with all these options.
No that's not a silly question. I had that same question too. But yeah, for different types of products you want different backdrops, like for example a big subject like a car would probably use the Corner Studio or "Studio U" backdrop because it kind of gives it scale and is more realistic. That's how I see it anyways haha. And the "Studio S" backdrop is good getting a certain reflection on the ground plain, like if you wanted just a but of reflection at the edge. Usually people would probably just use "Studio L" but it's good to have a variety :)
Thank You for adding this. I can see a lot of great uses for the backdrops.
Absolutely helpful! Thanks a lot!
Just great! Thank you :)
Bravo, sir/madam! Quality stuff, yet so simple.
Haha, that would be sir :) Glad you like it!
Sweeeet!!! Thanks
Great work. Thank you very much.
Hi, thanks for sharing, but if you want this to be really useful on productive environments for other people, I suggest to switch the license to something else such as public domain. If I should credit you for every use I do from this, it's perfectly fair but not usable beyond non profit works, or learning oriented things. Actually it's a thing that both don't like and that I care about to respect from Blendswap. Sometimes it seems just like people chose CC-BY because they don't know what exactly to do with things they share here. Regards, Raimon
Hey man, you have a really good point and I completely agree with you now. But when I tried to edit the blend, I found no way of changing the licensing... So you can just ignore it and use how ever many times you want without crediting me EVERY time haha. Don't worry about getting into trouble with licensing or anything, because I personally said you can use it like that, so I'm sure it will be good. I really appreciate your input and knowledge on the subject :) and I'm glad you like the backdrops!
great idea using shapekeys:) thanks for sharing!
I'm not a developer but I have "some scripting skills" I may try to turn this into an addon, thats if you dont mind.
That would be awesome!
Without proper lightening is usles :D
Well then I guess you should use proper lighting with it. :)
great thank you very much
Very helpful. Thanks for sharing!
Very helpful. And the use of shape keys - just brilliant! Thanks for sharing.
Haha thanks, I didn't know any other way I would go about doing it :P
Really useful. Thanks a lot.
Thanks its very handy.
great job. really usefull
Thanks. Cool idea.
Really cool idea, dont know why i didnt think of this before. Anyone else having issues switching "studios" ?
@pacman829 What do you mean "issues". Please do explain so I can fix it.
I just love it!! Thanks, now I am going to use these a lot.. great idea!:)
Thanks, I'm glad you like it!
This is cool man, very useful :D
Hmmm. Great blend. I'm somewhat new so maybe I'm missing something. Studio L shows up but when I remove it (click off the eye in the outliner) and click on another Studio "eye" it doesn't show. None of the others show....I must be doing it wrong. caa
Hey, you aren't missing anything, I put them in separate layers so that its better organized. On the bottom panel where it says Object Mode, if you look to the right of it you will see little squares and some of them have dots in it. If you click on of those then the different backdrops will show up. :)
Apreciate your generosity, its just what Ive been looking for, good work!
this is awesome thanks and is there a current addon for it?
No, sadly I have no knowledge in scripting, but if you would like to work on one, just message me! That would be great!
cool thanks
great
Thank you for the scenes.. Great help. I tried rendering the scene and the backdrop is showing the wire frame through the texture. Any ideas?
Oops. Found out why.. I had two materials under the object, one of them being wire-frame.
what an excellent share! thanks so much :) Very well thought out.
Thanks for your great job! It is really useful. I had several problems with my own bending-plane by using the subsurf modifier, as it is sometimes created a noticeable gradient bands on certain circumstances. I will try with yours.
Thanks for making this man :) , These will be a great time saver :)
great work, very helpful.. thx alots..
Great for use with so much... :) Thanks for sharing
Perfect, these will be very useful. Thank you.
Very Well done but it would be better if there is a Camera beacuse i suck at positioning :D
This is a really great idea, great for modelling cars and such, thanks for the great work!
Very good thanks very much!
Wow, very usefull, and Versatile.... thanks a lot....

It's 2022 folks and this is STILL useful. THANK YOU.
Wow glad to know it still works and is being used. Thanks!
So useful !! Thanks!!
Thank you so much! Newbie question. I'm new to Blender and I'm having trouble toggling the visibility on the render layers. Do you know how I could export objs of the individual sets? I'd also be willing to purchase objs of them. Much appreciated.
