End of the Day

Description

Rendered with Blender Internal.

You need to enlarge the preview to see the details and colors more accurately.

A long time ago, I lived and worked in Central America. My work often took me to small remote villages around the country.

This scene attempts to capture the transition between Sunset and evening in a mountain village as I remember it.

As always, I offer my blend files without restrictions. There is no need to credit me for anything.

Thanks for you comment. I'm nearly 70 now, and in my life's journey I've been fortunate to have lived and traveled around the world. Some places were peaceful and idyllic. But other places were in war zones and other dangerous locations. Actually, it's been a pretty wild ride so far. I wish I could do it all again. Maybe next time around. And yes, I have been lucky--I'm still alive and healthy.

Thanks for the encouragement. I endeavor to improve with each project. However, I have a long way to go before I'll be satisfied with the quality of my work.

Wonderful. I used to make pictures on canvas and did lots of paintings. That is why I love this kind of work. The scene is very common in my tropical country, mainly in those towns placed far of the cities. Thanks, BMF, for your contribution to the plastic arts.

If I may ask, where do you live. As for me, I lived and worked in El Salvador for a couple of years back in the mid-1980's. My Blender scene is based on some of the very small villages I used to work with in the mountains near the border with Honduras. And in those days, I could speak Spanish fairly well without too much translating in my head but I was always running into local idiomatic expressions and words that were of Indian origins that were unfamiliar to me. I learned Spanish in school, but learned to speak it well in El Salvador. Anyway, I'm glad you can confirm that my scene is somewhat typical of small mountain villages. Thanks for your comments. Que tenga un buen dia, amigo.

I was born in Caracas, Venezuela, but at the present time I live in Maracay, a city which is about 70 miles away from Caracas. Regards. Nací en Caracas, Venezuela, pero en estos momentos vivo en Maracay, ciudad que está más o menos a 120 Km de Caracas. Saludos

Well, in few words, your country newspapers are not exagerating at all. Perhaps the situation is worse than you could read. But, my friend, the day will come when the sun will rise again, and more brilliant than before, in this country. Take care. Thanks.

One of my favourite blends found on this site. It just looks so cool.

Thanks for the compliment. I have a very long way to go yet before I'll be satisfied with my work. This should not be such a large file and the mesh topology much less than optimal. I should retopologize the scene and use bounding boxes for the trees to reduce render times. I may do that. In fact, I'm thinking about updating most of my previous models/scenes to take advantage of my new skills and techniques. They could all use improvements. Despite its internal flaws, the End of the Day scene does accurately capture how I remember some of the remote mountain villages I visited when working in Central America.

I love tropical environments, and this blend is really well done! Does anyone know how to get the materials to show up though?
