Pretty nice but your starbursts don't seem to 'collapse' at all. I turned gravity for all the particles to 2 which I thought looked better. Now that I think about it, Motion blur might be an idea too.

I see what you mean about the gravity. But I added a bit of motion blur... Just not enough I guess. Thanks for the comment. :)

Yes I agree with gravity. Can you by any chance make the fireworks into text or a certain shape?

You could insert shape keys at the beginning and at the end of the blast to make shapes: first shape the object, add a shape key, than smooth it down to a jumble of spheres and add another shape key. Never tried this but mabye it will work. :-)
