Truck Tire

Description

It's just a simple tire for a truck or some other big cars. It's not perfect, but it's useful for a quick start for a truck.

Hi Iconic, nice try although it's quite a file size for such a model - if you're interested you might like to visit Jonathan Williamson's tutorial on a "Modeling and Rendering a Porsche 911 GT3 RS" on blendercookie - it's in 10 parts, but you could just view the part on creating tyres and alloys. Hope that helps, Jay.

Hi Jay, sorry for the Filesize. It's because of the used textures. I haven't scaled them down. Those i have for metal and rubber are 5000x5000px, so they are quite large. The normal size of the modelfile is 400-600 kB. I'm relatively new to blender. I use it since one week. I'll try to find them via google. :-)

Hi again Ionic, This is the link I think to the tyre part of the tutorial on blendercookie http://cgcookie.com/blender/2010/02/11/modeling-a-porsche-911-gt3-rs-part-06/ I'd avoid textures that are so huge, even as the tyres as geometry the file size would be a lot less. Good luck! :)

Thanks Jay. I'll try it. :-) Well I will upload another try later, after those tutorial. I still have some problems with the concept and navigation in blender some times, normally I'm a software developer, not a designer. But well, I want to try it. Couldn't be bad if someone has some secundary experiences. :-)

Hi Ionic, once you get used to the key layout you'll be flyin! Blender is very fast compared to max or maya. If you need any help/advice, give us a shout ;)

Thanks. I will do. I'm just starting and watching tons of tutorials on CG and blendtuts. So... blender is one of the best documented piece of software I've ever seen. :-)
