Strawberry

Description

EDIT2: Changed the license to cc-by because people are selling it without any modification and without giving credit. However, I DON'T REQUIRE ATTRIBUTION IF YOU USE THIS AS PART OF YOUR WORK, MODIFIY IT. I wish there were other license types. I wish my work could help as many people as possible, like Blender does, but selling it as is not nice.

EDIT: File updated to use the new Cycles SSS, hair and packing habilities.

This are the strawberries I used in this video

https://vimeo.com/57410882

The last 2 layers are what I used to (almost) procedurally generate the strawberry. One is the strawberry itself with hair and the other is a copy meant to hold the seeds as particles. You can recreate it from the last upper layer.

They are in groups, which I use as proxy in the main render layer (the first one).

The second layer is just lights. They have a .exr texture from http://www.hdrlabs.com/sibl/archive.html and the world has the wildly famous kitchen.hdr

The texture of the strawberry is all procedural, using a noise texture to deform the UV itself. A very cool cycles option.

Finally, there is the compositor. Nothing too fancy here.

The render textures aren't packed in the file. Is there anywhere I can go to download the textures?

Sorry for taking so long to answer. I wasn't notified by the site. It is a different file now and all the textures are packed inside it. But there are only 2, the lights and the world.

You sir please die in peace. Never seen anything more realistic in blender. Yeah may be seen something similar in TV commercials. Great job and thanks from my heart for sharing.

This model crashes Blender when opening. I even tried to append the objects individually and it still crashes.

Great model, I was wondering how you made your chocolate in the film down below. I'm trying to make some chocolate of my own, but I just can't figure out what the right settings are for the fluid.

very beautiful ; thanks it just need some leaves; can you make tutorial how you create the chocolate animation ?

Guys, sorry for never answering. I rarely check this. The chocolate was a very hacky job, very complicated that would be too difficult to make a tutorial or to follow. Unecessarily complicated because of the abandoned grid simulator of Blender. You guys should check out the new flip solver. People are making awesome stuff with it and it should be easier. Like this https://www.reddit.com/r/blender/comments/8dlm9f/strawberry_chocolate_pour/. And RikSavage,, the scene is VERY heavy from what I remember. I think you might be running out of memory on the GPU. It would probably be easier nowadays. I might eventually try to make a more functional version of it. And thanks for the kind comments

I'm dying for a tutorial on this. I've made decent fruits before but they're always highly complex and bulky. It seems you have your process down solid and efficient. If you could even point some intermediate users in the right direction for some techniques you used that would be amazing!

Thank you so much for the berries, they're amazing! but one question: what kind of object are they, and how can you transform them into a real mesh?

B
bigga almost 6 years ago

Help, the render looks amazing, but when I download the blend file and render the materials are all messed up. What am I doing wrong?
